Kundapur, Mar 11: The villagers in Kodi had boycotted the last gram panchayat elections that were held on December 22 opposing the delay in issue of title deeds and jetty works.
The elections have been announced again and are scheduled for March 29. The villagers decided in the meeting held near Kodi Hosabengre Lighthouse the participation in the elections as the elected representatives and officials are responding to their demands.
The deputy commissioner had held a meeting with the villagers on December 11, when warned of boycotting elections. Pleased with the turn around in the work ethic of the authorities, the villagers in the meeting commended the deputy commissioner and the tahsildar.
Two primary political parties who will be contesting in the elections have begun finalizing their candidates.
Gram leaders Jaganath Ameen, Ashok Tingalaya, Shankar Bangera, Chandra Kanchan, Kodi Bengre residents Nagaraj Kunder, Manohar Kunder and others were present.
