Mangalore: Sharanya Mahesh Qualifies for Asian Skating Championship

Mangalore, Jul 17: First year degree student of St Aloysius College Sharanya Mahesh, member of Mangalore Roller Skating Club has been selected to represent India at the 14th Asian Roller Skating Championships that is being held at Kaohsiung City at Chinese Thaipei between Friday July 16 and Sunday July 25.
Sharanya being trained under Mahesh Kumar is one among the three senior girl skaters in Indian team and is participating in the above-17 girls’ group. The selection trials were held at Visakapatnam from June 1 to 16. The selected skaters had to attend a special training camp organized by the Roller Skating Federation of India at Ahmedabad, Gujarat from July 1 to 12.
Sharanya qualified for the selection trials based on her earlier performance at the nationals. While she won individual champion title at the 45th nationals she won gold medal at the 46th nationals. She has also participated in World Roller Skating Championship 2005, among her various other achievements.
