Mangalore: Gold Worth Rs 8 lac Stolen - Sullia Police Net Two Thieves

Mangalore, Jul 17: Sullia police arrested Manja and Ammi from Hunsur of Mysore on Wednesday July 16 in connection with theft of gold ornaments worth Rs 8 lac from Sullia.
Addressing presspersons on Saturday July 17, district superintendent of police (SP) A Subramanyeshwar Rao said that at the duo was arrested from Madikeri following complaints by KVG Education Institute superintendent B T Madhav, a resident of Jayanagar and businessman Eshwar Bhat, resident of Ubaradka Road, Atalnagar, both in Sullia.
The operation was conducted under the directions of SP Rao and assistant superintendent of police Amit Singh, Puttur division by the two teams of Sullia police. The police team comprising sub-inspectors Paul, Priya Kumar and Umesh Uppalike of crime branch along with head constables Teertha Prasad, Damodar Naik, Hareesh Naik and Keshav participated in the operation wherein 245 grams from the culprits were seized.
The duo had gained into the houses of the victims after cutting through the grills of the window on July 7 and robbed 370 grams of gold ornaments. Ravi, another accused in the case is yet to be arrested.
