Mumbai, Jul 18: One-day programme Beary Tulu Sangama was held by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, Mangalore at Dr Visvesvaraiah auditorium, Matunga (West) here on Saturday July 17.
After inaugurating the programme beating the Duff instrument, Kannadiga Jornalists’ Association president Chandrashekar Palethady said that the organization of the programme has been successful in refuting the claim that Bearys are communal. The programme reinforces that Bearys inherently have Tulu culture. The Muslims of the Mangalore region in Karnataka are known to be religious and peace loving. Most of all there should be no discrimination against the community and they need to be treated equally, he added.
Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president M B Abdul Rehman in his address said that in this age of politicization, the role of culture and literature to unite people is crucial. Humanity is above all and need of the hour, he added.
