Udupi, Jul 20: Forty-year-old Pitty Nagesh is battling for his life after being grievously wounded in an assault by a group of youth near Korangrapady C A Bank, Kukkikatte, near here, on Tuesday July 20.
The miscreants arrived at the spot in a Maruti Zen car and were armed with lethal weapons. Nagesh was admitted to KMC Hospital, Manipal, in a critical condition.
Early reports gathered from the spot indicate that the attack was revenge for Nagesh’s key role in the murder of Hitendra Prasad, editor, ‘Hai Marutha’ Kannada fortnightly some five years ago.
Prasad was slain by a group of assailants at a bar in Manipal.
Nagesh is suspected to be a drug user and is an accused in other murder cases in the district.
