It is unfortunate to hear such an incident. But who can change nature, with birds, animals living a natural life. Since we now realise that birds and animals could be a threat to our runway, may be Airport Authorities will have to use a temporary fence to try and avoid on this problem. This is until entire airport work is completed and we have a permanent boundary wall to the airport.

Since forest, vegitation and farm land is all around the new runway and around our airport, infiltration of animals is inevitable. Also incomplete boundary walss in adding to this problem. I am sure with Mr. Vasudeva at the helm of affairs at Mangalore Airport, he will look in to this issue and find a siutable solution soon..!!

What the Forest Department can do, when Peacocks and other wild animals invade land mass occupied by human beings and what you would have done to control this if you are given charge to control this invasion by wild animals and birds? The birds hitting the aircrafts is not new and which occur in other airports also.

Any suggestions from you to control this? The 6 to 7 peacocks come beyond my house, specially in search of food which I had not seen here since my childhood days of more than 50 years. They kill reptiles specially poisonous snakes, damage paddy fields, vegetable gardens etc. Now we have pay the price for destroying forests and learn to live with this invasion of animals and birds from forests. It is easily said than done sitting in a room in Dubai. Be realistic.

This is not the first time Aircraft encountered peacock hit in mangalore's new concrete runway. In fact as far as I know this is the third incident. Approximately a year ago Air India Express encountered a Peacock hit (full peacock has been sucked by one of the air india express engine, but not reported in media). The North side of the runway is having full of vegetation and a breading place of peacock where the taxiway was planned and partial work too has been done. Landing and taking of air crafts from the mangalore's in new concrete run ways will always have a threat of either Peacock or Monkey Hit. (Have plenty in surrounding areas, i can say in hundreds ). Practically it is immposible to stop them from crossing the runway to otherside of the runway
