Three-day ICYM 28th National Council Meeting Begins at Shillong

Shillong, Jul 23: The three-day Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) 28th national council meeting jointly organized by ICYM and Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) Youth Commission, New Delhi began at Pastoral Centre, Tripura Castle Road, Shillong on Thursday July 22.
The meeting will discuss the preparation required for the eighth National ICYM Youth Convention that will take place in Shillong from October 10 to 17.
On Thursday at 6.45 pm Dr Dominic Jaala Archbishop of Shillong, together with Dr Leo Cornelio, Archbishop of Bhopal and Youth Commission chairman, Dr John Thomas, Bishop of Itanagar, and Dr Jacob Mar Barnabas, member Bishop of CBCI Youth Commssion inaugurated the council meeting with Holy Mass.
All the regional youth directors from the 13 regions of India were present. Fr Alwin, national youth director welcomed the bishops as well as council members.
ArchBishop in his message stressed that there is a need to strengthen faith in the Lord and witness him in our lives and service without doubt. He spoke on Mary Magdelene’s faith in the Lord.
At 8.45 PM a small Inaugural function was held in the auditorium to welcome the new member bishop of CBCI youth commission Dr Jacob Mar Barnabas. He was accorded welcome by chairman bishop Dr Leo Cornelio.
Bishop Jacob appreciated the work done by youth through ICYM. He promised his full support for the mission of the young in the country.
