Mangaluru: Prestigious 'PaGo' award conferred on journalist Pradesh Marody

Mangaluru, Mar 30: The prestigious 'PaGo' award for the year 2020 was conferred on journalist Pradesh H Marody, reporter/sub-editor at Prajavani in rural reporting here at Press Club on Tuesday March 30.

The award has been instituted in memory of P Gopalakrishna by PaGo Memorial Trust and is presented annually by the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists' Union (DKWJU).

The award was presented for his article 'Kelutila Male Makkala Alalu' published on June 25, 2020.

Speaking on the occasion Mangalore University vice-chancellor PS Yadapadithaya said, “Journalist Padyana Gopalakrishna was a multi-talented personality. He took part in Yakshagana and produced a movie. As he did not compromise his principles, he could not release the film. A journalist should report the truth to the society and maintain the tranquillity of mind."

He also said that journalist Pradesh Marody projected the problems of people in Kutlur.

He congratulated DKWJU for taking pro-active initiatives.

Journalist Pradesh Marody also spoke on the occasion.

The selection committee of 'PaGo' award consisted Mangalore University SVP Kannada Study Center assistant professor Dr Dhanjay Kumble, researcher and Puttur Dr Shivaram Karanth Balavana special duty officer Dr Sundar Kenaje, and Mangalore University College Journalism department professor Dr Soumya KB Kikkeri.

Chandrashekaraiah, assistant executive engineer, PWD, handed over Rs 50,000 for Journalist's Welfare Fund.

Journalist Sathyavathi read the introduction about the award recipient.

President of DKWJU Srinivas Indaje welcomed the gathering. Journalist Pushparaj compered. Jaganath Shetty Bala, general secretary Ibrahim Adkastala and others were present.
