Chikkamagaluru, Apr 1: Of late, we keep coming across a number of cases where cheating and breaching of trust between lovers are evident. Amidst these stories, a story has emerged in which unbridled love has bloomed in the midst of physical deformity.
The couple had loved each other for six years. But thereafter the girl lost control of both her legs all of a sudden and was stuck to her wheelchair. Even after two years since she got confined to the wheelchair, her lover did not feel any dearth in his deep love for the girl. Even though the girl was hesitant and advised the boy repeatedly against marrying her, the boy remained adamant. He tied the customary 'Taali' around her neck amid chanting of mantras by the scholars when she was seated on the wheelchair and accepted her as a life partner.
This incident reminds us that profound love is still in existence but there is a need to understand hearts that are blemishless. This is the story of Swapna and Manu from Bhaktarahalli in Chikkamagaluru taluk.
Swapna told Manu that she is totally glued to her wheelchair and therefore would be unable to stand or move around. "I do not know what the future holds for me. What kind of life can you expect by marrying me? Please forget me and marry someone else," she had told Manu.
Swapna was a healthy girl from birth. After she did her second PU, she collapsed when she was in the typing class all of a sudden. For the last two years, she has no control over her legs. The doctors in various hospitals in Kerala and Karnataka find that she is normal and they do not know what is blocking movement in her legs. Even native medicines have not worked her. Manu, who was in love with her for the last six years, instilled courage in the girl who had lost hope in her future. He insisted on marrying his love and married her at a mass marriage programme. He says that when he loved her, she was fit and fine and feels that if he discards her now, his love loses its meaning and value. He says that if we drop plans of marriage just because of some physical deformity, it is definitely not genuine love.
