Bengaluru, Apr 2: BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta visited Halasuru Primary Health Centre and reviewed the contact tracing process of Covid-infected persons under BBMP limits.
The officials concerned have been informed to strengthen and streamline the process, he informed.
The chief commissioner said that precautionary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the city.
He said those who do not wear masks in public places are being penalised and the system will be further strengthened to contain the speed of the virus.
Over 60,000 covid tests are being done under the BBMP limits, which will be further increased.
People, coming from other states and cities, with symptoms, should be screened for Covid-19. He said more tests should be conducted in the areas where the infection is on the rise.
The citizens must voluntarily follow Covid-19 norms and wear masks at public places, maintain social distance and not attend events and ceremonies, he said.
As per the requirement, the bed capacity will be reserved and increased in private hospitals, Gaurav Gupta said.
He said approximately 35,000 people have been receiving the vaccine in the city every day. Action is being taken to increase it further. Those working in apartments and garments should be vaccinated.
"A with the residents' welfare associations will be held to raise awareness amongst people living apartment complexes to get vaccinated," he said.
The chief commissioner visited the East Zone war room and reviewed contact tracing of Covid positive people.
He inspected the work of those calling patients in home isolation.
The details on Covid positive cases will be available zonal wise through the ICMR portal to the indexing software.
Through this information, the war room staff will call the patients – with comorbidities availing treatment at the hospital and those who are asymptomatic, in-home isolation – every day and inquire about health, informed a health officer.
Second vaccine dose for chief commissioner
Gaurav Gupta received the second dose of the Covishield vaccine at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute, Bowring Hospital.
Special commissioner (Health) Rajendra Cholan, joint commissioner Pallavi and chief health officer Dr Vijendra, zonal officer, Siddappaji and other officials were present during the inspection.
