Mangalore: Canara School Students’ Tribute to Kargil Heroes

Mangalore Jul 26: The students of Canara Boys School organized a rally to mark ‘Vijaya Divas’, Kargil Victory Day on Monday July 26.
It was the students’ way to pay homage and salute the martyrs of the Kargil war who laid down their precious lives to save many a golden lives. It’s been 11 years since victory.
Addressing the students, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik said that the rally by the students will make our nation proud as it shows the respect they have towards the great soldiers who fought bravely and sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation.
The rally was flagged off by MLA N Yogish Bhat. In all 981 students participated which included 100 National Cadet Corps (NCC) and 51 scouts who marched in the streets with slogans ‘Vande Mataram.’
The rally commenced from Nav Bharath circle and then proceeded towards Carstreet. Later passing through K S Rao road the students went back to their school ground. The students and teachers also observed two minutes silence for the martyrs of Kargil and ended the programme with ‘Vande Mataram’ song.
Speaking to Daijiworld, principal of Canara School Umesh Mallya said that through conducting a rally they intended to spread the message among public about the great achievement of Indian soldiers. They should be always remembered as they are the true heroes of nation, he added.
He also said that if people work with discipline and show national integrity we can protect our nation like the soldiers of the Kargil war. He informed that two soldiers who took part in the Kargil war have been invited to the school at 3.00 pm to share their experiences in army.
