Vivek Oberoi recalls living in a slum to prepare for 'Company' role

Mumbai, Apr 12 (IANS): Vivek Oberoi on Monday turned nostalgic on completing 19 years in Bollywood. The actor recalled staying in a slum for three weeks to prepare for his character of gangster Chandu in his debut film, Ram Gopal Varma's "Company" that released on April 12, 2002.

"Company was a dream debut for me! At that time, it was the most unconventional debut and I cherished the opportunity RGV gave me and dived into the character. I rented a ‘kholi' and lived in a slum for three weeks to prepare and transform into Chandu Nagare. 19 years today and I wouldn't change a thing! (I have) Deep gratitude for this dream that became a reality!" Vivek said.

Vivek will soon be seen in the horror thriller "Rosie: The Saffron Chapter", which marks the screen debut of TV star Shweta Tiwari's daughter Palak Tiwari. The film directed by Vishal Ranjan Mishra is reportedly based on the real incident of the sudden disappearance of a woman named Rosie from Gurugram, who was an employee at a BPO company.

Dear Mr. Vivek Oberoi, you appear to be young and energetic, and also you seem to be willing to accept new challenges in your young life in India. Living in the slumps in India is not a simple taask but you have willingly accepted it, and you succeeded in it. Mother Teresa from Yugoslavia chose to come to India as a Missionary and she chose to work in the slums to the surprise of even the Pope at Vatican. They all supported Mother Teresa in her ambitious challenge to go into slums, and her willing nature made her succeed in her love for the poorest of the poorest in India. Ultimately, when she passed away in the year of 1997 she was cannonized as a Saint. We are all proud of Saint Mother Teresa of Kolkota for all her willing achievements in India, and we are now proud that you took the initiatives to take up this tough challenge in India. May God help you and protect you always, Mr. Vivek Oberoi. May you be an inspiration to many other young stalwarts such as you to pursue this willing challenge in India. May God help you today and always, and we are surely proud of you. May You be blessed always. Thank you for your good work.
