Nine Palestinians killed in fresh Israeli strikes across Gaza, say health officials

Gaza City, July 9: At least nine Palestinians were killed in separate Israeli airstrikes and gunfire incidents across the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to health officials in the territory.

Medical officials said an Israeli airstrike near a school in Gaza City killed one person.

In southern Gaza, another strike hit a tent sheltering displaced families in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, killing at least four people, including a 10-year-old child.

Health officials also reported that a six-year-old boy was killed by Israeli gunfire in Gaza City's Zeitoun neighbourhood.

In two other separate incidents, Israeli strikes in different parts of Gaza City killed three more people and injured several others, medics said.

The Israeli military had not immediately commented on the reported attacks.

Although a ceasefire remains in effect in Gaza, violence has continued, with periodic airstrikes and exchanges of fire reported in different parts of the territory.

According to the Gaza health ministry, at least 1,084 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire came into effect in October. The figures have not been independently verified.

Efforts to reach a permanent agreement to end the conflict have so far failed to produce a breakthrough.
