New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS): Opposition parties are learnt to be in disagreement with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee's formula for ending the crisis in parliament over the mode of discussion on price rise.
Mukherjee, who has invited leaders of all political parties for a breakfast meeting Monday, is likely to stick on the government's stand that a discussion on price rise could be held under Rule 193, which does not entail voting, said government sources Sunday.
According to a senior opposition leader, a discussion under Rule 193 is not acceptable to them.
According to the formula of Mukherjee, who is also leader of the Lok Sabha, at the end of the discussion, the speaker should move a resolution expressing "concern at inflationary pressure on the economy and call upon the government to contain its impact".
"We have not agreed to that proposal," a senior opposition party leader told IANS. He, however, said he would participate in the meeting as "a final decision is expected to be taken in the meeting".
The Left party leaders said they would also attend the breakfast meeting.
The opposition parties' protest over price rise washed away the first week of the monsoon session of parliament with no real business conducted as they demanded a discussion on an adjournment motion that entails voting.
The government says it is prepared for a discussion but not as an adjournment motion or under any other rule that entails voting.
