Mangaluru, Apr 27: The Ullal police arrested seven persons on Tuesday, April 27, in connection with the kidnapping at KC Road and Hosangadi.

The arrested have been identified as Ahmed Iqbal (33) from Attavar, Yakoob (33) from Manjeshwar, Umar Nawaf (24) from Manjeshwar, Shamsheer (29) from Kasargod, Sayyed Mohammed Kausar (41) from Uppala, Naushad (28) from Manjeshwar and Sheikh Mohammed Riyaz (28) from Uppala.

Three cars, one bike, 10 mobile phones, 2 talwars, one dagger, property documents and a gold necklace weighing 120-gram were seized from their possession.

It is said that on April 22, a man identified as Ahmed Ashraf was kidnapped from KC Road. Soon, even Ashraf's friend, Javed was kidnapped from Hosangadi. The duo was locked up in a house and assaulted by the accused. The victims were rescued from Talapady on April 24. The accused had demanded money, original property documents for the property in Manjeshwar from the families of the victims. The accused threatened to kill Ashraf and Javed if their families did not fulfil the said demands.

It is said that victim Ashraf and Javed had asked accused Iqbal to invest money in a company called MCT Trading, Toll Deal, cryptocurrency and Forex Trading. Ashraf and Javed had convinced Iqbal that he would get three times the return for his investments, following which Iqbal had invested Rs 27 lac.

For the sake of investment, Iqbal had borrowed Rs 5 lac from the other accused in this case, Yakoob. Along with the profit, Ashraf and Javed had to pay Rs 99 lac to Iqbal. However, they only ended up paying Rs 10 lac. Even after over one year, Ashraf could pay Iqbal the remaining money which led to Javed and his kidnapping. Angered at the loss of his money, Iqbal contacted Umar Nawaf to plot the kidnapping of Ashraf and Javed. The crime was successfully executed with the help of Umar Nawaf and his gang.

Umar Nawaf is a habitual offender who has 10 cases registered against him in police stations, it includes murder, robbery. He is also known to be the main accused in the 'Target Ilyas' case.

One of the accused arrested for the kidnapping has tested positive and is in isolation. Once recovered he will be taken into custody.

‘Strictly follow Covid norms during lockdown’

The police commissioner said that lockdown will be implemented till May 12 at 6 am, starting from 9 pm, April 27.

He urged people to cooperate till May 12 in the same manner how they cooperated during the weekend curfew.

“As many as 54 checkposts, three mobile squads from each police station and over 1,000 police personnel have been deployed for duty.

“Even police are briefed to facilitate people during the lockdown relaxation from 6 am to 10 am,” he said.

Points to be noted : Their God Father's are already ready to provide bail for them. What is point in mentioning "involved in other cases, murders,, robbery and so on" when they are not punished and their behavior is not corrected. This means police nab them and lawyers are ready to prove them innocent and court find no fault against these guys and release them. Since neither the SC nor the Government has not set limit for having mobile phones and Sim cards What is the point in displaying the mobiles. Rules and policies are not applicable for politicians and criminals. It is only applicable to common layman. Police are also supporting these category personnel. Ordinary people cannot expect from our police Take example of police personnel involvment in recent rave party, use of drugs, alcohol when there is COVID19 pandemic and people should avoid gathering.

This is one of the ways we get infection from Kerala. The Police should have regular patrolling in Attavar, Falnir areas. Even cars parked haphazardly on road and footpath. Hub in Mangalore for people from Kerala.
