Kasargod, Apr 29: "The process of counting of votes of assembly elections will be held on May 2. The district administration has completed all the preparations for the counting of votes. Completely adhering to the Covid-19 protocol, the counting process will be done. The announcement of the final results will be delayed," said District Collector Dr D Sajith Babu in a press meet held virtually on Thursday April 29.
"The counting process will commence from 8 am, in five centers of the district. In each assembly constituency, counting will be held in various centers. The complete results of the election will be available at 4 pm in the evening. Holding victory processions and gathering near the counting center is strictly prohibited. The political partys' agents can enter the counting center only with a covid-19 negative certificate. The agents should reach the counting center by 7 am," informed the DC.
The counting of the Manjeshwar assembly constituency will be held in 17 rounds. In the Manjeshwar constituency, there are 336 polling stations. Counting of 20 in each polling station will be held in a single round. In the Kasargod assembly constituency, there are 296 polling stations, counting of votes will be held in 15 rounds. In the Udma assembly constituency, there are 316 polling centers, counting will be held in 16 rounds. In the Kanhangad constituency, there are 336 polling stations, counting will be held in 17 rounds. In the Thrikaripur constituency, there are 307 polling centers, counting will be held in 16 rounds.
The counting of the Manjeshwara constituency will be held at Government Higher Primary School in Kumbla. The counting of the Kasargod constituency will be held at Kasargod Government College. The counting process of the Udma constituency will be held at Periya Polytechnic College. The counting process of Kanhangad will be held at Nehru College at Padnekad. The counting process of the Trikaripur constituency will be held at Polytechnic College in Trikaripur. Initially, the counting of postal votes will be held from 8.30 am.
"There are as many as 2500 postal votes in Manjeshwara, 4000 each postal votes in Udma and Kanhangad, and 7000 postal votes in Trikaripur," the DC said. 500 postal votes will count in one table. Postal votes will be counted till 7.59 on May 2. In this regard, the direction has been given to the postal officers.
Measures have been taken to avoid any kind of untoward incidents in the district. Essential police staff has been deployed for any bandobast. To enter the counting centers, a covid-19 negative report or certificate indicating receipt of two doses of anti-covid-19 vaccination is mandatory.
