Mangaluru: Wholesale biz not allowed to operate at Central Market for now, says MCC commissioner

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Apr 29: A meeting presided over by the deputy commissioner regarding the prevention of the spread of coronavirus while trade operations were conducted at the Central Market was held on Thursday, April 29. The local MLA, city police commissioner and assistant commissioner (Law & Order) were present.

In the meeting, it was pointed out that stores other than those selling essential commodities were not supposed to function according to the orders by the state government issued on April 21. Only essential items of daily use can be sold from 6 am to 10 am with effect from 9 pm on April 27.

The district administration has come to know of several roadside vendors, wholesalers and of people who are flocking in groups at Central Market and completely ignoring Covid guidelines. The wholesale business has been already shifted to Baikampady APMC Yard. Nobody has permission to conduct business near the Central Market. The business in progress there is unauthorized.

The commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has directed officials to oversee that fruits and vegetables are sold to people in a decentralized manner at the Central Market while social distancing is followed. He has also directed the assistant police commissioner of traffic to take suitable action to prevent traffic congestion in the market vicinity.

stop all vehicles in central market. they creat a big mess and we the public cannot buy anything as the two wheelers move arround and in between the buyers. central market is very dirty and not a place for food product to sell. now corona time arrest those spitting in roads and not wearing proper mask.when police arrest corona will be gone.

No worries..... Very soon we are getting new APMC market near kallapu thokkottu by the initiative of our MLA khader..... A big thanks to khader bhai for initiating such a needy project. Otherwise it would be a big loss of time and money to travel baikampady. Just requesting Mr. Khader to open this market to public as soon as possible.

Yes very good decision. One Gentleman Mr ALBERT was asking my suggestions for controlling spreading of virus in yesterday's Daijiworld comments, for my comment, And I gave the same suggestion what DC has taken now. I hope my suggestion was perfectly correct. Banned selling vegetables in and around central market area from today which is main cause to cross yesterday's 1000 Covid19 cases in Mangalore.

Administration should built a makeshift wholesale central market at Nehru maiden until this pandemic ends with strict Covid guildlines monitored by police department, this will help to reduce congestion and save daily labors employment and also solve supply chain issue to local departmental stores.

Unorganised business is a real problem. Its agreed wholesale business runs in Baikampady. Let wholesalers also survive. Change essential items commodities procurement time from 7am to 2pm... 6am to 10am is heights of stupidity. Its becoming SUPER SPREADER event

The mindset of the authority is not wise. Some time banning business at central market and other days allowing. In that congested place how the public of mangaore and surrounding areas will buy the essentials of daily use at limited time allocated, that is 6 to 10. Think properly then only give orders. Public really confused.
