Kundapur, May 10: “The government has announced a second lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus. People need to be cautious as everyone's life is valuable. I hope that the pandemic will come under control in another two weeks by the efforts of concerned officials and people’s cooperation,” said MP B Y Raghavendra.
He was speaking in a meeting concerning the Byndoor Vidhan Sabha constituency over Covid-19 control measures held at the Kollur Mookambika temple auditorium.
“Three meetings have been held already in the guidance of the MLA at Byndoor over Covid control and management," he said.
“Concentrate on Siddapur, Hakladi, Shankernarayan Vandse, Hattiangady and other villages to control the virus and find out the reason for the surge of corona cases in these areas,” he said.
“Traffic will have to be permitted for emergency medical care. Police should take action against unnecessary travel,” he added after discussing the matter of traffic control and police patrol in Byndoor.
“Provide quality food for patients at Covid hospital. The government is providing Rs 250 for it. It should not be a problem for patients.”
A doctor of a Covid hospital said that a tender was received for the supply of food services to Covid patients last year. Due to this, food is being supplied to the government hospital and Covid designated hospital.
MLA B M Sukumar Shetty said that discussions are held with doctors of primary health centres and CHC during their visits.
“The medical staff there has put forth certain demands. Pulse oximeters in sufficient quantities will be required for those who are in home isolation in primary health centre limits. There is a demand for an ambulance for Siddapur primary health centre. There are 816 Covid infected in Byndoor limits. The Covid positive rate was 7% in April which spiked to 27% now. The area in Heroor near Kirimanjeshwar has been declared a containment zone. 31 deaths have occurred till April 1. One community health centre, 13 PHC are functioning in Byndoor. 41 rural task forces in 41-gram panchayat limits are in action. 14 throat swab testing centres and 10 mobile Covid swab testing centres are at work,” said Dr Lata.
Kundapur Covid hospital’s Dr Nagesh said that there are 94 beds in Kundapur government hospital. 170 beds are reserved in private hospitals. He informed that 2,976 are being treated at hospitals and 2,815 have recovered.
Dr Latha said that there is a scarcity of Covid vaccines. “43% per cent of vaccines for those above 60 years and 28% vaccine for those above 45 years are administered. 34% of the total vaccines are administered. People above the age of 18 years are being vaccinated in the taluk hospital this afternoon. 150 doses are administered,” she said.
The medical doctors said that there are no funds to buy pulse oximeters and thermal scanning and provide them to ASHA workers. Sub-divisional officer K Raju assured that he will speak to the deputy commissioner on the matter.
Kundapur DySP Srikanth said that checkposts are functioning well and that 180 vehicles were seized and more than 4,000 cases of mask violations were booked.
