Mangalore: First-ever in Community Radio - RJ Sudeep Live for 14 hours on Sarang to Mark I - Day
Media Release
Mangalore, Aug 14: To light up the spark of patriotism in people, Community radio SARANG 107.8FM, has come up with a novel idea of 14 hours non-stop Radio Jockey ( RJ) marathon by RJ Sudeep Shenoy, and the host of Namma Mangalore Namma Voice, on Sunday August 15 from 6.30 am to 8.3 0pm.
This will mark an unprecedented attempt in the field of community radio all over India. RJ Sudeep will be anchoring all the programmes on August 14 Live On - air AIR without any break. He will conduct the programmes in various languages like English, Kannada, Tulu, Konkani and Hindi among others.
Fr. Richard Rego, director of Sarang says that “It is a milestone for the radio which has recently celebrated its first anniversary and recently increased its broadcast schedule to 14hours daily, which is the highest among community radios in India”.
“The marathon is pretty close to my heart, not for the reason that it is going to be a record but rather for the fact that I will be having a platform to educate and instill a sense of national pride among the citizens of India and the youth” says RJ Sudeep.
He also adds that conducting such a marathon is not an easy task, and though many commercial FM stations do it, the work involved there is much lesser compared to community stations who are expected to create content with value rather than just queuing up and playing film songs. RJ Sudeep says his role models are RJ Avinash from Big FM and RJ Vishwas from Radio Mirchi, who have conducted marathons before.
