Mangaluru, May 22: Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar undertook city rounds here on Saturday May 22.

Speaking to media near at circuit house, he said, “The government has extended lockdown up to June 7. People in Mangaluru are extending full cooperation by keep aside all work. While 99% of the citizens are following the norms, 1% are violating the same. I have directed the cops to take action against those who violate and move unnecessary on vehicles and open shops. As of now, 9,000 mask violation cases, 270 Epidemic Act cases and 170 NDMA cases have been filed. More than 2,000 vehicles have been seized. Despite this, we notice than violations are continuing. Due to violation that 1% of the people, 99% who are following rules, suffer.

“Cases are filed on seized vehicles and are submitted to the court. Even the court will not release the vehicles. Such cases are last on priority of the court and it will take at least 2-3 months for the offenders to get their vehicles released. Hence, I urge everyone to follow the guidelines.

“Youngsters assume that they have immunity power and move unnecessarily. ASI of Mangaluru east traffic police Dombayya Devadiga has lost his loved ones due to Covid and hence I request youth to not take this pandemic lightly,” he said.

Dombayya Devadiga who was present said, “I have lost my brother’s son who was 32. He was an engineer in Bengaluru and got married two months ago. He was negligent. Youths nowadays do not understand the seriousness of the pandemic.”

Police commissioner continued, “Till when people can stay in fear that police will impose fine and seize vehicles? The seriousness and awareness should come from within oneself. At the age of 59, Dombayya is relentlessly working at the check post here for people’s safety. We once again humbly request people not to venture out unnecessarily.”

People move freely with their Mask covering their Chin/Beard ! Educated people are no exception. Plain clothed Policemen should be deployed and fines collected. The timings of Shops selling Essential goods/Groceries should be ideally extended till 12 noon so as to prevent the over crowding there...Sights at the Checkout counters and inside these places are scary with people literally sticking to each other.....the very purpose of these Lockdowns are defeated ....

Yes Sir, please provide us all the essentials at our door step so that we never need to venture out. And most importantly ask the govt to credit our accounts with monthly compensation of not less than 10000 rupees every month until next year's lockdown measures and protocols which will be re introduced every year according to my presumption.

Yes prevention is better than cure for the same reason. I always spur people to improve their immunity against all invaders not limiting towards present epidemic which is turned into pandemic by evil men. Live healthy, eat healthy, be happy and see the difference.
