St Aloysius College Honours Three Outstanding Achievers

Mangalore, Aug 19: Abhaya Simha, Rajesh Naik and Badekkila Krishna Pradeep, three alumni of St Aloysius College (SAC) here were felicitated by SAC principal Fr Swebert D’silva SJ and Sudhir Shetty, COO, UAE Exchange, Abu Dabhi at a programme held in the college campus on Thursday August 19.

Chief guest Sudhir Shetty, addressing the gathering appreciated the three achivers and said, “They had vision and determination to do things, and their body language reflects their attitude of simplicity."

Abhaya Simha, who passed out in the year 2003, is a filmmaker of international reputation. His film Gubbachigallu was screened at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, New York Film Festival in 2008 and also at various film festivals in India. The movie also fetched him a Golden Lotus National Award for Best Children’s Film 2008 and Best feature Film Award at NYIF Festival 2008.
 
Krishna Pradeep, who graduated in 2005, is a freelance reporter, anchor and has lent his voice for television news channels like TV 9 and Suvarna News. He has published more than 150 articles in various newspapers in Kannada and English and has also edited several newsletters and magazines. He also has an experience working with Big FM and Worldspace as an RJ (radio jockey).
 
Rajesh Naik, who passed out as a topper of his BA batch in 2003, was selected for Karnataka Administration Services in 2006 and has also been selected for Indian Foreign Services this year.
 
Talking about the three alumni, Fr Swebert D’Silva said that the pride of any institution is not its structure but its products, the proud students of the college who go out and serve the society like the three men are doing today.
 
Fr Dr Richard Rego, HOD of mass communication, Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief of daijiworld.com, Edwin J F D’souza, Konkani writer and N Damodhar Shetty, HOD of Kannada department were present.

    Congratulations to all the three young Icons for doing something to the society and to the nation. Being a Aloysian I must say that the college has to produce more and more achievers. I am confident that the Teachers and Professors of the this great institution are molding their students in this direction.
