Kuwait: IMWA Holds Iftar Party for Member Families

Kuwait, Aug 22: The Indian Muslim Welfare Association (IMWA) organized family iftar and dinner for the member families at the Gardenia, Kuwait Continental Hotel here on Friday August 20. 

IMWA is an all India platform for the Indian expatriates living in Kuwait to come together for the sake of community, society and nation at large, which has members from all over India.

Ambassador of India to Kuwait Ajai Malhotra attended the evening programme as chief guest. The diplomat wished Ramadan Kareem to the Indian expatriates through IMWA platform and also remembered Indian Independence Day which India just celebrated. 

Ramadan is a month of great importance in which Qur’an is revealed. It teaches brotherhood, caring and sharing, patience and self-discipline, said Malhotra. While admiring IMWA for promoting brotherhood among Indian communities through various activities he requested to keep up its good work – those who can, should help others, he added. 

Mir Ibrahim Ali Khan in his presidential address stressed the importance of holy month of Ramadan and said that we should take advantage of last ten days of the holy month in which the Lailat-al-Qadr occurs.  He also conveyed his Eid greetings in advance to the member families of IMWA.

Siddiq Valiyakath, a community leader, felicitated IMWA and praised all the good work it has been doing.  He also praised the Ambassador of India for taking initiative to improve the consular affairs and other services at the Indian Embassy.

The keynote address was delivered by acclaimed speaker and journalist Sharafuddin BS. He said Ramadan provides rigorous training of discipline in ones life which is also helpful to every aspect of personality development. Ramadan also creates a global season of virtues with participation of more than a billion people in charitable and other activities showing compassion towards humanity.  The purpose of fasting is to create God-consciousness, only a God-conscious person can be a good employee, a good employer and a good human being in general, he added.

Shaikh Mohammed Daniel, consultant at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Awqaf said that fasting helps Muslims to come closer with Allah Almighty and abstain from all evil. He also emphasized the importance of being kind to fellow-human being which in turn will invoke the kindness of Allah Almighty.

Israr Ahmed recited the verses from Holy Qur’an and Dr Mohammed Naeemuddin convened the evening programme. The event concluded with the buffet dinner soon after Maghrib prayers.
