Mangalore, Aug 23: The National Students Union of India (NSUI), in collaboration with the National Youth Congress, organized a programme to identify young and competitive leaders at SDM College in the city on Monday August 23.

KPCC working president D K Shivakumar said that his visit to the city was because Rahul Gandhi wanted students to be active in matters ranging from hierarchial politics in India, economic growth in the country, to creating young leaders in the city.

Shivakumar said that this has been done to create young leaders. The NSUI will hold elections at the national and state level with the intention of creating great leaders among the youth.

“This leadership programme is a process to unite students and make them leaders who can think and plan for the betterment of the nation. Being the best democratic nation in the world, the development of the nation should be the prime motto of the youth,” he said.

The NSUI will conduct elections which will be a transparent process, based on the membership that it will attract in a college.

“The youth will be encouraged to participate in elections as they should learn leadership qualities to be successful individuals. Colleges should encourage elections among students so as to great leaders into the present world,” added Shivakumar.

“The media cannot be fooled by chief minister B S Yeddyurappa. An  example is the manner in which they boycotted his programme as they were not allowed to meet the CM at the airport,” he said.

NSUI central executive committee’s Rojith John, DK DRO Dipen Kumar, district returning officer Jossy John, MLA U T Khader, Congress leaders Vijaya Kumar Shetty, Mithun Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, Ivan D’Souza, Hasanabba Kripa Alva and G A Bava were also present.

It is a very bad move from the part of the said politician. This is not 'encouraging the youth to join politics' but 'instigating' We see in the North how much wrong is being done by the so called youth political party wings.Leading politicians are responsible for this. Thousands of youth leaders and other youth are killed in the name of politics, whereas none, those who instigate the youth get a single scratch.

The moment youth come into politics their vision for the future is blinded. I am in Allahabad for almost 34 years. There are tens and hundreds of leading historical colleges affilited to Allahabad University. All that I have been seeing in the recent past is only the SORRY state of these colleges and the university as a whole. It is very bad condition of almost all the colleges and the universities in the northern states.

Today, barring a few, most of the politicians are not an educated lot but unedcated, illiterate and barbarious, who misguide students and drag them into vulnerable world. Even if it is the wish of Rahul Gandhi that every youth should join the politics, then let every youth know that Rahul seen politics from far for many years. He was not attracted to or by politics but he felt the need of joining the politics. There is none who iether encouraged or instigated him to join, but he felt the need of giving his own self for it. For our Indian youth to join politics, he or she should have a father like Rajiv Gandhi and / or a mother like Sonia Gandhi.

We are living with a hope that one day or the other we will get a chance to actively involve in politics. This is possible only when all the senior leaders take voluntary retirement from politics. Corruption is the base of our day to day activities and we can not erase this word until and unless you set aside these corrupted leaders.

Now the politians have gone to brain wash the youth just to make them realise that politics is easy can earn easy money by blaming other parties. These young students instead of studying and joining a good job wasting their time in dirty politics.I would say join the military if u want to serve the nation not politics all the party's are the same. These college unions backed by political parties give funds during election to give bribe to the college students through parties then after the students gets elected these parties use them to do anti social activities. I do really regret about this and SDM should not have entertained these kind of programmes and the end everyone needs money and these young students think they are heroes, just see the way the student has dressed in the pic, he will be the next poltician.
