Mangalore: CM Participates at ‘Raksha Bandhan’ Fest in City

Mangalore, Aug 24: Chief Minister (CM) B S Yeddyurappa, took part in ‘Raksha Bandhan’ programme organized at Sanghaniketan, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh karyalaya by RSS here on Tuesday August 24.

Delivering lecture on Raksha Bandhan celebration, Dr P V Shenoy, Mangalore city saha sangha chalak said that the celebration unites the feelings of the hearts transcending caste, religion and creed barriers. It is this thread, though it may seem fragile, that is strong and pure symbolizing the Indian culture, which has been able to withstand the cultural, religious and economical onslaught on the nation.
Girl students of Roman and Catherine School for the Blind in the city, and women belonging to minority communities were among the first to tie Rakhis around CM's wrist on the occasion. Speaking to reporters after the programme, CM said that the trip to Mangalore has been made memorable with two Muslim women, members of BJP mahila minority morcha, tying rakhis around his wrist. This has made the celebration very meaningful, he said and added that RSS is an organization that builds patriotism and patriots with no malice against any religion.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, Mangalore south MLA N Yogish Bhat, Mangalore Urban Development Authority chairman Madhav Bhandary and Franklin Monteiro, state vice-president among others were present.
Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated on Tuesday August 24 over the country and falls on the full moon day of Shravana month.
