Mangalore, Aug 25: The thieves broke open the doors of Goddess Mariamma Mahishamardini Temple at Bolar in the city on the night of Tuesday August 24, and took away money collected in several donation boxes found in the temple.

The temple does not employ guards at night. This is the second theft in the temple during the last one year, and those who committed the earlier theft are yet to be traced. It is estimated that the thieves have gained access to money in excess of Rs 2 lac.

The donation boxes of the temple are opened twice during the year in the presence of trustees, once just before Dasara festival, and again after the conclusion of the Dasara, as devotees throng this temple in large numbers during the nine-day Dasara festival, and donate liberally either to fulfil their religious vows, or for the development and renovation of the temple.

The priest of the temple being run by a trust getting to know about the incident on his arrival for the puja in the morning of Wednesday August 25 reported the matter to the managing committee.

A complaint has been filed at the Pandeshwar police station in the city. Policemen and sniffer dogs surveyed the scene of the theft and tried to find clues about the theft. The thieves appear to be aware that the donation boxes have good collections, which are accumulated during the last about a year, about a month before being opened on the eve of Dasara. Investigations are on.

This is the crooked task of Drunkers, Jobless, Scoundrals. It is good that those people should not have taken birth on this earth. Who is the cause for Joblessness? Is it not our System ? Is it not our selfish politicians irrespective of Political parties. No use, this kind of loots will continue in Temples, Mosques and Churches as long as our politicians work with selfish motives. Not to worry about. Our politicians know very well that people are busy in earning their daily bread and do not have the time to look into all these matters. Let Almighty judge the issue.

If GOD can answer my prayers to destroy these unearthly animals wherever they may be with the loot. Security of temple / CC Tv /Guards etc. is not the answer. Gods don't need security. Rather, they are watching us what we mortals are doing on earth to change the society so that such incidents cannot even be thought of.

Hundi, irrespective of whether it is in school, temple, mosque, church, etc need to be cleared on a regular basis.

Clearing them every small interval does few good things:

    1. Does not attract any thieves for the small amt that is in, in a given time.

    2. Does not block smaller denomination currency, whether coins or notes. Means - Mint need not produce huge number of coins thus scarcity question would not arise.

Hopefully the thief would be caught.

Why there is no night guard in the temple? It is better to install CCTV camera in all important famous place of worship spots like Temples,Maszid and Churchs for multipurpose use.A place of worship always remains very sensative especially in DK/UDUPI under given situation.Police must act swiftly to nab the thief to avoid misunderstanding between the communities.
