Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB)

Udupi, Jun 5: “In a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic, the district administration has imposed section CRPC 144 (3) from Monday June 7 at 6 am till Monday June 14 morning. The prohibitory orders will remain in force until further order,” said Udupi district deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha in a press release on Saturday June 5.

The DC has issued new guidelines to prevent the increasing positivity rate and reduce the mortality rate in the district.

All activities except medical and essential services will remain closed. The government services departments and banks can operate with up to 50% occupancy. All cultural, political, social and entertainment activities will not be allowed without prior permission. Sports events and fairs will also remain banned. Schools, colleges, and other educational institutes can continue conducting online classes. Coaching centres, cinema halls, gyms, swimming pools, clubs and shopping malls will remain shut.

For cremations, not more than five people will be allowed. Restaurants and hotels cannot function. However, parcel and home delivery services are allowed.

Plans of traveling in trains and flights, which were fixed earlier, are allowed. Taxi, cabs and auto-rickshaws can be used to reach the destination. The drivers can present tickets as pass.

All health institutions will function out of containment zones. There is no restriction for agricultural activities as before.

Those violating the rules will be booked. Strict action will be taken according to Disaster Management Act 2005, Karnataka Epidemic Disease act 2020 and section IPC 188. This order is not applicable on government meetings and programmes.

Sir, now u shut down everything and in 15 days you will open public transport and Schools. Whats the point doing such things. Atleast allow private vehicles to ply and keep shops opened. Seems like we are killing the poor labours whose daily wage is not enough to fulfil their single day daily needs. What will they do for 7 days. How will others survive. Request you to kindly review your decision.

It's not about there being any difference in restrictions. The restrictions are being announced by District Administration prior to expiry of current statewide partial lockdown as per StateGovt which may or may not extend.
