Apologise for Anti-Christian Remarks: Yeddyurappa Tells Legislator

Bangalore, Aug 25 (IANS) : Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Wednesday said he had directed his party legislator Prahlad Remani to apologise for his anti-Christian statements on Independence Day.

"If he does not tender an apology to the Christian community for his statements, action will be taken against him," Yeddyurappa told reporters in Belgaum, around 500 km from here.

Remani, member of the assembly from Khanapur in Belguam district, is reported to have said in his speech after unfurling the national flag at Khanapur that Christians must be weeded out.

Archbishop of Bangalore Bernard Moras had taken up the issue with Yeddyurappa and Governor H.R. Bhardwaj and expressed deep regret about such statements being made against the Christian community.

According to Moras, Remani had stated: "There are two things the British left in India after they left, the first one is the partition of the nation and the second one is the seeds of Christianity that are being spread systematically by the Christians through their institutions. People must remain aware and watchful about the spread of these seeds of Christianity and followers of any religion, including Hindus and others, must weed out Christianity."

He told Bhardwaj and Yeddyurappa that this information was based on a report submitted to him by Belgaum Bishop Peter Machado.Remani is reported to have stood by his statements when mediapersons asked him about it at Belgaum.

The legislator told reporters that "Christians under the guise of social service are luring villagers in Khanapur taluk and are engaged in conversions".

Karnataka, once known for communal peace, has in recent years seen increasing attacks on churches in several places, particularly in Bangalore and the coastal town of Mangalore, over alleged attempts at conversion.

The Karnataka government has set up a commission headed by retired judge of the state high court B.K. Somasekhara to probe attacks on churches in Dakshina Kannada, of which Mangalore is the main town, and other places in September 2008. The Commission is to give its report in about two months.

Neither the Jews nor the Christians

I think Mr. Remani is poor in History and no wonder he is a politician...Christianity was not invented by the British...But by a man named Jesus Christ of Nazereth who sowed the seeds of love all over the world...who was a manifestation of Gods unconditional love, mercy and Grace...I want Mr. Ramini to know that doesnt matter what he says about christianity, Jesus Christ loves him and and he died on the cross for him too...I can understand the resentment of Christians who have commented above...but my brothers lets go one step ahead and do what no religion in this world except Christianity and that is to forgive him in the name of Jesus Christ teaches...

I pray and hope one day he also feels the love of Jesus christ just as St Paul did...Lets pray and prove the world that v r not just like other religion but Gods children...

It is known fact that we have very few leaders, who understand Indian constitution. Oath taken by them after election is just a formality nothing more than that. The choices given to us between Chicken pox, Typhoid and Malaria which may not kill you, but have to live with it by electing one. These people join their hands during the election and raise it on you after election. We must get united to find a solution.

I have heard during election time some of the representative who had elected were saying 'I can easily win the election without the vote of minority people'.Such talk to be stopped. To build the nation all are important.Let us hope for the good days ahead.

The Chief Minister is taking the
right step to solve the problem
by requesting the insane MLA to
    apologize to the Christian
    community, which is a commendable
gesture of honesty from him. Mr. Remani is turning
like a duplicate of Varun Gandhi,
and he can cause greater damage
to the BJP, on the other hand,
    he can create greater social
    anarchy.

He does't like the Christians, that is his personal choice. But
    when he delivers anti-Christian
    or any anti-religious sermons
wrapped up in hatred, that can turn

Every Indian feels so proud and honoured on an independance day. It is a day where the leaders should ensure that there is unity and harmony among people. When a leader is elected, he or she becomes the leader of all the people in the constituency, including the people who have opposed him in the election. He has taken an oath to uphold the constitution. If he has broken that oath, his seat should be vacated automatically and fresh election should be held.

The person who has broken the oath should be banned at least for 10 years from holding any public office. Christians should continue to do their good work and should not be discouraged by such unwanted, uncalled for remarks. The peaceful morcha taken out should be an example for others to imitate. I do not see any policeman around but not a shop or a vehicle damaged.

Hindu fundamentalist must know how many Hindus live in Britain, U.S.A, Australia, France, Germany and other Christian countries enjoying religious freedom. When Hindus go to Christian countries they need all their rights but when it come to the point of Indian Christians Christians are persecuted. The Hindu politicians who steal the wealth of our Nation, goes to Christian countries to secure their money (like Swiss bank). In India to hide their crime and turn the public focus their corruption fingering at Christians to promote violence.

The leaders who cannot have the qualities of “building nature” must be stepped down from their position. Christians are peace loving and society friendly, full of nation building qualities. They learn in Christian schools and stand against Christians. Do not forget this great proverb “UPPU THINDA MANEGE YERADU BAGEYA BEDA”

Remani might be thinking that he will get the popularity by throwing some communal speech in public. But the result is vise versa. Nobody is converting anybody unless and until somebody shows the interest to embrace any religion. Thank God for British and other Westerners' who ruled India!

Otherwise this nation would have been still in stone age! If we can dare to stand, shoulder to shoulder with other developed countries, its just because of the western education and their technology. Today we boast about the number of Indian origin scientists that work in NASA, Boast about number of doctors work in America and number of IT specialists working in States, as if they all were educated in Indian system! People who want to reach heights dwell in similar countries and if they have reached somewhere, its just because they were educated and trained among elite, in their own system.

No one wants to admit that, if it was not the education system of the west, we would have been like the aboriginals in Australia, living in the bush. The contribution of Indians to the world's inventions is nil where as its filled by the Americans, British and other Europeans.

We are only good in one thing which is corruption and if we are changing a bit its just because of the influence of the western system.

If willingly we have got rid of many things and embraced western education and technology for the better of our future, what's problem if some one willingly starts believing in the faith of Christians getting rid of their old faith?

Remani is not fit to be in the public service. He is not an Indian. Send him to Andaman prison for life. He acts like an enimal. I do not understand who elected him? Christians are the one who brought culture and development, education, hospital and social welfare. No one can compete with Christians who have done extremely good sacrifices for the Nation.

Even for higher education our Indians have to go to Christian Nations. We learn from them and then blame them for doing good to us. That is the reason India is known as a poor Nation. Without Christians living in India, there will be no development and progress of the Nation. Let Remani be dismissed from MLA post he is not even fit to work as a Chaprasi in the Vidhana Sauda. Let Christians, Muslims and Hindus in India live peacefully as we all lived in the past. India is the largest democratic Country, let not any government spoil it.

I recall saying of Martin Luther King “Morality cannot be legislated but behavior can be regulated. Judicial decrees may not change the heart but they can restrain the heartless”
In simple terms legislation is the law. Laws are written to govern conduct. Violations of laws leads to government action such as suspension, fine legal action taken up by the injured party.
Highly appreciate Archbishop Bernard Moras for taking up the issue with CM and Governor as we all are injured party and this can restrain the heartless, Mr. Remani
Secondly, The right to freedom of religion allows Indian citizens to choose any religion that he / she wants to choose. This fundamental right was chosen after lot of thought regarding the process of person choosing his / her own religion. This fundamental right is described in the constitution as:

The right to freedom of religion is a fundamental right guaranteed under Article 25 of the Constitution of India. Article 25 reads as follows:-

Article 25. (1). Subject to public order, morality and health and to the other provisions of this Part, all persons are equally entitled to freedom of conscience and the right freely to profess, practice and propagate religion
Thirdly: Grounds Of Restrictions freedom of speech :
Clause (2) of Article 19 contains the grounds on which restrictions on the freedom of speech and expression can be imposed :-
    1) Security of State: Under Article 19(2) reasonable restrictions can be imposed on fredom of speech and expression in the interest of security of State. The term "security of state" refers only to serious and aggravated forms of public order e.g. rebellion, waging war against the State, insurrection and not ordinary breaches of public order and public safety, e.g. unlawful assembly, riot, affray. Thus speeches or expression on the part of an individual, which incite to or encourage the commission of violent crimes, such as, murder are matters, which would undermine the security of State.
Mr. Remani should be charged for inciting violence and spreading hate campaign.

The same Legislator says that christians spread christanity through its institutions. Let the legislator tell his hindu Brothers and sisters not to join Christian Education Institutions, mark my words his own brothers and sisters will kick him in his butt.

The Problem with the elected representatives that before election they are very faithful to voters and once they are elected they rattle their tongue in such a manner that there is suspension bridge between their tongue and brains. They block their brains and vomit poison.
