Mangaluru, Jun 10: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) on Thursday June 10 urged the flat owners’ associations and apartment residents in the city to contain the spread of the Covid-19 under the jurisdiction of MCC.

At present, under the MCC's jurisdiction, the Covid case positivity rate is around 17%.

The press release from MCC stated, “It is necessary to increase Covid testing in all potential contacts and cases.

“To decrease the spread of Covid cases significantly, it is imperative that Covid testing must be increased. Therefore it becomes important to subject all primary contacts to Covid testing.

“Against this backdrop, hereafter, if any Covid positive case is identified in a residential apartment under MCC’s jurisdiction, all the members of that apartment will be categorised as primary contacts and will have to undergo the Covid-19 test to rule out any further possible spread.

“Therefore, in this matter, we request complete cooperation from the flat owners’ associations and residents of such apartments with MCC and the Health department in the best interests of the society,” informed MCC through a media release.

I don't understand why those strictly observing lockdown with all government procedures and don't have any contact with the covid-19 positive person is subject to test. This is going to increase the stress of the residents specially elderly and those who stay indoors. Just to bring down positive rate below 5% as instructed by the CM, please do not do unnecessary test and create panic and stress.

If one person is infected , why inconvenience all the residents. There will be senior citizens & bed ridden people, why trouble all of them, test immediate neighbors if they have come in contact with the infected person. Nowadays many people stay indoors, why harass them by poking their noses unnecessarily.
