Mangalore: Rains Batter Coast – Sea Turns Turbulent, Fishermen Warned

Mangalore, Aug 28: The entire west coast from Kasargod to Karwar received heavy rains on Thursday August 27. As the sea has turned turbulent, the district administration has warned the fishermen to keep off the sea for the next two days.

The meteorological department has predicted rains up to 125 mm during the next 48 hours. Most of the places in the coast received between seven and nine cms of rain on Friday. Districts like Kodagu, Chikmagalur, Shimoga and Gulbarga, are also receiving abnormal rains.

The flight schedule at the local airport continued to be disrupted on Friday, although to a lesser extent. The Air India Express flight from Dubai was diverted in the morning, to Kozhikode because of inclement weather. The Kingfisher flight from Bangalore in the morning was cancelled, as the flight went back without landing. Six other flights operated as per schedule.
