Mangalore, Aug 31: With the transfer of Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) commissioner, P G Ramesh, the ongoing cold war since the last two months between the MUDA chairman and commissioner, has come to an end. Ramesh has been transferred to the post of the headquarters assistant in the directorate of municipal administration.

It may be recalled that Ramesh had been transferred as the commissioner of Madikeri municipality on July 1 this year. Ramesh was immediately relieved, and city corporation’s joint commissioner, Madhukar Gadkari, had taken additional charge of the post, in Ramesh’s absence. Reportedly, this development took place, as MUDA chairman evinced interest in these transfers.

Ramesh immediately approached Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT), complaining that he had been transferred without any reason, to a post that was earmarked for an officer of lesser cadre. On July 2, KAT stayed operation of the transfer order. Ramesh rejoined to his earlier post, which resulted in discomfiture for the quarters that had worked for his transfer.

Ramesh has been transferred again, thanks to the efforts put in by the MUDA chairman. Reportedly, when the Chief Minister visited Sangh Niketan here on August 23, he was prevailed upon on the issue.  On August 26, transfer order was received, and Ramesh was relieved from the post. The post of MUDA commissioner is lying vacant as of now.
