Mangaluru, Jun 21: As many as 110 people were vaccinated in the second phase of the vaccination drive held at Our Lady of Remedies Church, Kirem in Ikala here on Monday, June 21.
The first phase of the vaccination drive took place on June 11. Nearly, 105 people had taken part in this vaccination drive.
The vaccination drive was held under the initiative of the parish priest, Fr Victor D’Mello, the parish council vice president, Stephen D'Cunha, secretary, Maxim Pinto, convenor of different commissions Santhan D'Souza.
More than 50% of the parishioners took part in the vaccination drives held in Primary Health Care Center and panchayat. The vaccination drive has been organised on the premises of the church, keeping in mind that the difficulties faced by the senior citizens in reaching the vaccination centres and hospitals and waiting for hours together. Thus, the senior citizens were vaccinated on the church premises.
The parish team headed by Fr Victor D’Mello successfully completed this noble mission. The whole mission was assisted by the parish volunteers. The elderly brothers and sisters were very happy with this assistance.
