Udupi: Religious Fervour Grips The City of Sri Krishna

Udupi, Sep 2: The colourful celebrations of Sri Krishna Jayanti were held in the temple city from early morning on Wednesday September 1.
Various competitions – ‘Muddu Krishna’, ‘Muddu Radhe’, ‘Muddu Sri Krishna Bala Leele’, Rangoli drawing, extracting butter traditionally, ‘Hulivesha’, and other activities for children were held as part of the Sri Krishnashtami at Rajangan of Sri Krishna Mutt, throughout the day on Wednesday.
Sri Laxmivarateerta Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt offered ‘puja’ to Lord Krishna by placing his idol in a cradle and led the procession ceremoniously along the Rath Beedhi on Wednesday morning. Thousands of devotees thronged the Sri Krishna Mutt to seek blessings.
Sri Laxmivarateerta offered ‘Argya’ at Sri Krishna Mutt at 11.54 pm on Wednesday.
Vittla Pindi Sri Krishna Leelotsav will be held at Sri Krishna Mutt on Thursday September 2.
A concert by renowned drummer Shivamani will be held at 3.00 pm on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, the idol of Sri Krishna will be carried in a golden chariot through the main streets on
Thursday evening and immersed in the Madhwa Sarovar at Sri Krishna Mutt at the conclusion of the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations.
