Kuwait Hosts Workshop for GVOM-II Semi-finalists

Kuwait, Sep 1: ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore’ organizers under the banner ‘Youth Recreation Club,’ organized a workshop for a briefing on the contest rules and regulations of the forthcoming semifinals and the grand finale. The workshop was held for all 12 contestants on Tuesday August 31 at Don Bosco School at 5 pm.
The Kuwait semifinals of The 'Gulf Voice of Mangalore' a Konkani singing contest, is scheduled to take place on Friday October 8, at American International school auditorium, Maidan Hawalli from 4.30 pm onwards. The selected two contestants will take part in the grand finale which will take place on October 22 in Dubai along with 10 other finalists from other Middle East countries (Oman, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar).
The programme began with a prayer and introduction of the speakers of the day along with a welcome speech by organizer Lawrence Pinto. Prominent personalities in music field Fr John Harry D’Souza and Gration D’Souza were present to guide the contestants.
Fr John Harry D’Souza briefed the contestants about the selection of songs, voice quality, daily habits, voice exercise, personality, diet, experience, regions of voice etc. He also stressed on practice and explained about the scale, range and singing styles.
Gration D’Souza gave tips on how to maintain health during the competition and following certain diets for better results. He also spoke on confidence and understanding the song before practicing the tune to bring expression into it. There was a question-answer session at the end.
Fr John Harry D’Souza along with Gration D’Souza, Lawrence Pinto, Louis Rodrigues, Rita Rodrigues and Wilson Saldanha started the campaigning of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore’ symbolically by inaugurating the flyer. The programme came to an end with the distribution of flyers to the gathering.
