Udupi: DC warns people against misusing unlock exemptions

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jun 24: Deputy commissioner of the district, G Jagadeesh, has warned that the people of the district may have to face problems because of the habit of some people misusing unlock exemptions extended to them.

"There was provision for only 40 guests in marriage functions. However, more than the permitted numbers are attending the weddings. Hotels are permitted to serve the people only till 5 pm and not 6. As per the guidelines, holding any kind of programme is not permitted. Still, every day, hundreds of different parties and organizations hold programmes, protests, and social parties about which we learn through the newspapers. The organizers of these programmes are playing with the health of the people in general," the DC said.

"Law is the same for everyone. If I, being the deputy commissioner of the district, follow the rules and regulations, people also follow them. If the people's representatives obey the rules and guidelines, their followers too will do the same. Everyone has to compulsorily abide by the guidelines. Anyone organizing public programmes without prior permission will face severe against. Till July 7, no one is permitted to hold any programmes. Anyone found to be not sticking to the law will face stern action," he warned.

Laws should be constructive and those breaking the laws should be Booked and penalised. If the DC only talks of severe, strict, and stringent action and the people of Udupi simply don’t care, and dare to fluant the rules and regulations, it simply means no action Is ever taken.. Also, how can a Liquor shop be categorised as Essential and allowed to do business, and not a Restaurant or a Barber Shop, etc. when this unknown COVID Virus does not categorise or Exempt any category of business or individual. or any business.
