Bengaluru, Jun 27: The intensity of the second wave of coronavirus is waning in the state and life is slowly returning to normalcy. There is a demand that the schools that have remained closed since one and a half year should be reopened and offline classes resumed.

Education minister Suresh Kumar will hold a meeting on Monday June 28 at the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan office in the city, in which deputy commissioners, DMOs, CEOs and DDPIs will take part through video conference.

The focus of the meeting will be on examining measures taken to reopen schools in other states of the country and also whether it is suitable to reopen the schools and conduct offline classes in the state.

Discussion will also be held on whether to open schools only in districts where the Covid positivity rate is less, together with Vidyagama and introduction of shifts system.

There is a possibility that decision will be taken in order to hold SSLC examinations in the third week of July. There is a possibility that the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Tamil Nadu will start higher education classes from July.

This is indeed a crucial meet to take a crucial decision. Considering the fact that the situation is still bad it is very advisable that to decision to reopen schools and colleges is deferred. In many countries students are asked to study from their respective homes and this has been a practical strategy.

They should be concentrating and planning to improve the quality of education when its really time to reopen the schools. Just misleading the parents since one year has caused panic and confusion for students as well.

Follow those countries that didn't lockdown and shutdown their schools and colleges proving no students got infections or passed it on to their parents or teachers. World wide data shows children aren't in any danger from the virus as such enforced immunisation drive is uncalled for and illegal too against a disease that's just like flu. Opening up is the only proven way ahead. Stop unapproved RTPCR tests and asymptomatic spreading the infections lies. Stop the mania stop further deterioration of ruined economy and education.

If the schools are not opened even after lockdown restrictions are eased, the students will enjoy their precious childhood period in parks, marriage ceremonies, parties etc with their parents. So let us hope a good positive decision will come out after the meeting..
