Jun 27: With 15 Covid deaths, DK continues to battle fatality rate; 96 new cases in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 27: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday June 27 reported 454 new coronavirus cases and 15 deaths, while Udupi registered 96 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 10,19,825 samples have been tested so far, out of which 9,27,960 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 91,865, out of which 6,006 are currently active.

As many as 641 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 84,708.

The district recorded 15 deaths due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1151, out of which two are non-Covid deaths.

The positivity rate in the district stands at 5.64%.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 92,11,867 as fine in 75,572 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,76,569 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 96 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 66,136, out of which 1,010 are currently active.

A total of 214 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 64,736.

Out of 96 new patients, 88 are in home isolation while 8 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 96, as many as 58 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi taluk reported 43 of the 96 cases, Kundapur recorded 37, and Karkala 16.

Coronavirus has claimed 390 lives in the district so far, including one on Sunday. The person who died on Sunday was 66-year-old woman from Karkala.

So far, 3,91,930 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 104,486 have received the second dose.

A total of 29 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, four are currently active.

    Death rates should be shown hospital wise. So that peoples will know which hospital give good treatment.

    Considering state cases and Bangalore cases (Bangalore has 4 times population of DK), DK is not out of woods still. Even deaths are 15 in DK while they are 11 in Bangalore. That shows the leniency towards seriousness of our people. Stringent measures are need of the hour.

    Why daily more deaths ?? Is it inclusion of unreported backlog deaths 🤔🤔🤔 DC or district incharge should clarify.
