Bengaluru: More parents admitting children into government schools

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 3: Till recently, the people did not have a good opinion about government schools. The children who used to be admitted into private schools earlier, are turning towards government schools, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has created an upheaval in the education sector during the last year and a half. The parents, in addition to facing worries about online, YouTube lessons etc are also compelled to pay high fees. People in Bengaluru and elsewhere had raised their voices against having to pay full fees for the children who have never attended the schools for the last 15 months.

Parents and managements of private schools used to have a heated debate on the issue. Many protests and agitations have been held by the parents but many schools are adamant about not changing their fee structure. The parents therefore were in a fix over educating their children.

If Govt schools in Delhi can be improved to current standard, why not in Karnataka? I know examples of people who studied in simple Church School in Kannada medium, stood first in school, finished Engineering or Medicine and done very well in life. Unfortunately, people think that studying best school makes the child brightest and get biggest job.

The Delhi model for government schools should be adopted all over the country. Mr Kejriwal has done a fantastic job in improving the Government school s . Public healthcare also should get a boost , time to improve the Government hospitals in the country otherwise the Private healthcare will destroy families with prohibitively high healthcare costs .

I feel that this because of high school fees in private schools. So poor and lower middle class people join their children to Government schools, but now the problem will start only after one or two years. Now the Government schools will also start to collect good fees within a year or two and all children and parents will face the same problem. Now before going to Government school, every parents must think twice.

How much do govt schools collect fees from a general category child? Is it somewhat like ₹15000 or above? I think govt will not charge more than ₹1000 even from a general category child. But the actual problem is the quality and reachability of the education in govt schools.
