Bangalore: K R Puram Konkani Association Celebrates Nativity of Mother Mary

Bangalore, Sep 11: The feast of Nativity of Mother Mary was celebrated with gaiety by members of K R Puram Konkani Association, Bangalore, at St Anthony Church, T C Palya, on Wednesday September 8.
The celebrations commenced at 8.45 am with the blessing of the harvest by Fr Kiran followed by little children carrying flowers and offering the same to Mother Mary.
In the procession around the old church, Sushma Almeida carried the statue of Mother Mary during the procession. The celebration of the Eucharistic grand mass was by Fr Vijay Machado, accompanied by four priests.
The choir group of the K R Puram Konkani Association assisted the celebrants by singing melodious hymns praising Mother Mary. The blessed corn was distributed to the people who had gathered.
The church and the altar were decorated by Stephan Lewis with the assistance of Anita, Daisy Jacinta, Juliana, Nelson, Regina, Rohan, and Winny.
A get-together was organized after the mass at the Church Community Hall. Fr Vijay Machado called upon the participants to celebrate the feast of the Mother Mary as one family, as it is a family feast. He asked the participants to unite discarding worldly things and build the bond of friendship with one another and long for the eternal gift of heaven.
As the birthday of Fr Machado was on the day of feast of the Mother Mary, the members of the association celebrated his birthday after the mass.
Dominic Almeida, treasurer, K R Puram Konkani Association, Bangalore, welcomed the gathering. The president of the Association Edward Martis spoke on the occasion and thanked all the executive members for making the occasion a grand success.
Dilraj Rohit Sequeira, advocate, Bangalore, conducted the function. Breakfast was served by Peter, Francis Lobo, Pius Almeida, and Prassanna. The function concluded with the distribution of sugarcane to all the participants in the feast of Mother Mary.
