Moodbidri: Irreverent remarks - Kambala jockey's fans meet, demand legal action

Moodbidri, Jul 19: To register their anger against indecent remarks posted in social websites by a person named Prashant against Kambala jockey, Ashwathpura Srinivas Gowda and his family members relating to Kambala, a protest meeting was held here on Saturday July 18 at Saman Mandir. Kuldeep M of Chowtara Aramane here presided over the meeting.

Srinivas Gowda, popularly and fondly called as the 'Usain Bolt' of Kambala because of his speed, and who had bagged Karnataka Kreeda Ranna award, was derided in the said post. A large number of his fans came together along with dignitaries and people associated with Kambala and unanimously demanded for legal steps against the person who insulted Gowda.

District Kambala Samiti honorary advisor, Gunapal Kadakmba, described Srinivas Gowda as a very polite person who believes in working hard. He said that he himself had become target of ridicule for recommending Kreedarratna award for 2017 and the same people are now targeting Srinivas Gowda. BJP leader K P Jagadish Adhikari, expressed surprise at Prashant name having been linked to him, as he does now know who he is. Many others including Congress leader Mithun Rai and Dr Jeeevandhar Ballal vociferously demanded suitable actions against the person involved.

Srinivas Gowda thanked the people who had gathered in such a large numbers to defend him and felt that no one should do anything that tarnishes the image of Kambala and that posing death threat and using words beyond the limits of decency should be shunned by everyone.

Hokkadygoli Kambala organizer Rashmit Shetty and Yajamana, Hosabettu Chandrahas Sanil, compered the programme.
