Karkala: Lady drowns in pond along with child at Kervashe

Karkala, Aug 2: In a tragic incident which happened on Saturday July 31, a woman and her three-year-old son met watery grave at Kadpal in Kervashe village near here.

The victims of this shocking incident were Soumya (27) and her son, Arush.

Soumya used to attend stitching classes near Kervashe school. On July 31 afternoon, she had left her home to attend the stitching classes, along with her son. As she did not return even till 6.30 pm her younger sister Sarita, went searching for her. It was found that the footwear Arush was wearing when he left home, was floating in the pond at Madivalakatte. A plastic bag which Soumya was carrying, was also found on the ground near the pond.

Immediately locals, Bharath and others searched the pond and found the bodies of the child and its mother. It is suspected that Soumya would have slipped and fallen down into the pond when returning from the stitching classes. A case relating to this incident was filed in Ajakar police station.
