Udupi: 11-year-old Thanushree Pithrody creates seventh world record

Udupi, Aug 16: Thanushree Pithrody, the well-known Yoga star, has created her seventh world record in the Golden Book of World Records by performing 245 yoga poses in 43.18 minutes.

In a special programme held on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, Adamar Math’s Vishwapriya Swamiji and Ishapriya Swamiji took part and blessed.

Golden Book of World Records head Manish Vaishnav was the judge. He said that he has seen 2,000 records but the record of 11-year-old Thanushree is amazing. “She has broken the previous records of 145 yogasanas in an hour,” he said.

Thanushree said that she learnt more than 180 Yoga asanas during the lockdown period. “I am glad that my achievement is a world record,” she said. Indian soldiers were remembered in the programme.

Daughter of Udyavar residents Pitrodi Uday Kumar and Sandha couple, Thanushree, is an eighth standard student at Udupi’s St Cecilia Kannada medium school. She is obtaining Yoga guidance from Ramakrishna Kodanja, Yoga guru Narendra Kamath, Karkala and Dr Shobhita Shetty.

Adamar Swamiji said that interest towards spiritual Yoga is decreasing in the society these days. “Our problems will be solved if we develop attachment towards nature,” he said.

MLA K Raghupati Bhat, Lalaji Mendon, municipal council vice president Laxmi Manju Kola, member Chitaranjan Bhat, former district panchayat member Geetanjali Suvarna, Dr Shobhith, Badagubettu credit cooperative society managing director Jayaker Shetty Indrali, Diwaker Sanil, yoga guru Ramakrishna Kodanja and Narendra Kamath Karkala were present.
