Aug 16: DK reports 284 corona cases and five deaths; Udupi adds 107 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 16: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, Aug 16 reported 284 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi registered 107 new cases.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 14,08,310 samples have been tested so far, out of which 13,02,182 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,06,128 out of which 3,555 are currently active.

As many as 333 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,506.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,03,30,420 as fine in 84,861 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,55,825 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 107 new cases were reported on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 71,925 out of which 1,330 are currently active.

A total of 133 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

Out of 107 new patients, 84 are in home isolation while 23 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 107 cases, as many as 65 are symptomatic and 42 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 39 new cases, Kundapur registered 38 and Karkala 29 and one case was from out of district.

Coronavirus has claimed 433 lives in the district so far.

So far, 5,67,051 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,11,197 have received the second dose.

A total of 51 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 5 are currently active.

    People have no sense venturing out. DC also has to take responsibility for these numbers increase. He should have implemented lockdown for the virus to disappear
