Mangaluru: Schools reopening postponed, no physical classes till August 28

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 20: The education department has made preparations to start physical classes for standards 9 to 12 in the state from August 23. To take abundant care of the health of the students, it has also issued certain guidelines pertaining to hygiene, maintenance of social distance, wearing of masks, and vaccination of teaching and non-teaching staff among others.

One of the conditions is that the districts where the schools are located should have a positivity rate that is less than two percent for the schools to reopen. As the positivity rate in Dakshina Kannada district is in excess of two percent, physical classes will not be conducted and schools reopening has been postponed till August 28, said deputy director of public instruction (DDPI), Malleswamy.

The DDPI said that the government had decided to conduct physical classes for ninth and tenth standards if the Covid positivity rate falls below two percent. But because the positivity rate in Dakshina Kannada district continues to be above two percent, the deputy commissioner of the district has instructed to postpone the start of the physical classes, he said. However, online classes will continue to be held as before.

They will postpone untill a week before the peak of the third wave, then infect everyone and say we never expected this. Start now, this time is not for youngsters to vacation without masks. When covid is low, start education.

First the govt should start and complete vaccinating children above 12 years then think of reopening the school until then online classes are comfortable from their home. Positivity rate of virus will come down only upon vaccination, wearing mask in public places, hand sanitizers and social distancing. Lockdown should continue on and off based on the situation. Hence public will get used to this routine and adopt the situation. Its also the responsibility of the police in public places to make sure people wear mask and social distancing.

Positivity will not come down unless people wear mask and take their vaccinations. Sadly 30-40% people on the roads don't wear mask and policemen don't even care.

Mask can help prevent and contain virus, its the same way how people tie cloth to tap outlet to purify water. The water won't be purified completely but you won't get 100% contamination. Also prevention is better than cure.
