Udupi: 'Those moving around without masks should undergo Covid test' - DC

Udupi, Aug 21: Deputy commissioner (DC) of the district, G Jagadeesha, has said that those who move around the public places by violating covid19 guidelines and without masks, will be compulsorily subjected to Covid tests.

The DC noted that in spite of the fact that the government has framed guidelines that are to be strictly followed in public places in order to effectively stop spread of Covid, some continue to violate them. He said that because of this, the infection rate in the district is rising.

"Even after the health department issued warning about the Covid third wave, the people are not following rules. Even though efforts are made to make the people aware that wearing of masks and maintaining social distance is necessary, many are overlooking the rules. Therefore the district administration is compelled to take stringent measures," Jagadeesha stated. He said in order to see that the people make it a habit to always wear masks when in public places, those found moving in public places without masks will be compelled to undergo Covid tests.

"We have deployed staff to find about people not wearing masks in public places. They will take violators to the nearest Covid testing centres and get them tested. They will also provide full details of such persons on a daily basis to the taluk medical officers,” he explained.

The DC said that if such people resist Covid tests, criminal cases will be lodged in police stations and they will be acted against under the provisions of disaster management act.

The DC stated that once Covid infected persons are detected and containment zone is declared, all those who belong to the containment zone should be considered as primary contacts. They have to be tested without fail. If they resist, criminal cases will be registered," he warned.

    I see many people walking causally without masks and ignoring all precautions People travelling in buses and in crowded areas without masks. People don't maintain social distancing and sanitisers are not available in many shops and hotels etc Unless we follow the guidelines get by the government, we can not overcome COVID disease Its high time these things are implemented The third ave shall soon start and we may be in for a large epidemic now We have to cooperate and follow the government recommended guidelines strictly to defeat the COVID 19 epidemic in India

    Dr. Kusuma, Last week one of our relative got tested positive in a reputed hospital; immediately, he did repeat test in another hospital & got a negative report, both in Mangalore, which proved my doubts.

    One needs to take these murky tests which can be manipulated, higher CT number higher the false positive ? .... (WHO had admited these RT PCR Tests create false positive also had advised to reduce tests' magnifying "Cycle threshold” or “CT value" from 40 to 35, a month after US elections again retracted it around a month later, because so many questioned the timing, at the same time to save their back ?)....     Very true, RTPCR test is not at all dependable & Covid specific, gives false positives, at cycle threshold levels greater than 30. In fact an infected person will be positive at CT of 6. Moreover the test has to done in highly sterile conditions by very skilled technicians.     According to D C the mandates are only guidelines and enforced testing is illegal and against the constitution as well. Time to file criminal cases against those insisting them. Again ICMR states wearing of masks is recommended only for those with infections when in public places and not for healthy people. Asymptomatic people are healthy and never transmit infections according to the latest research. Wake up people take back your freedom which is taken away by corrupt officials to make hay with pandemic hoax, seasonal flu doesn't require any lockdowns and authoritarian enforcement of any mandates.
