Mangaluru: Month after landslide, Shiradi Ghat opens for all vehicular traffic

Mangaluru, Aug 22: Deputy commissioner of Hassan district R Girish has released an order allowing the movement of all kinds of vehicles on Shiradi Ghat from Sunday, August 22.

Girish said that vehicles of all types will be allowed to ply from 6 am to 7 pm.

Movement of vehicles is allowed in single lane only, he added.


Traffic was prohibited due to landslide at Maranahalli of Hassan on July 22.

DC of Dakshina Kannada Dr Rajendra K V and DC of Hassan Girish conducted a joint survey on Saturday to evaluate the present condition of the area and the possibility of allowing movement of vehicles.

    only those that do not value their vehicles or have vehicles given by someone else will use this road. better go on horseback.

    I have just driven on this road on Saturday. Reached Bangalore in 6 hours . The roads are driveable with temporary work being done on most of the turns where it was damaged

    Temporary solution....that too one lane only! This is never ending story! We have neither will nor determination for a lasting solution. Where does the huge road tax and Toll revenue goes? Elected reps are blind towards this nagging issue! High time get it re-constructed by an European company preferably 4 lane without kickbacks, for a huge savings in next few decades.

    Ronald D, Udupi....need not ask where the money goes...!!!!???? There is a Bermuda Triangle between NaMo, AS and RBI since 2014. Whatever goes into Bermuda Triangle, nobody knows what happens since ages. It is still a mystery.
