Mangaluru, Aug 24: Dency Monteiro, who was stuck in Afghanistan as he did not get the flight to fly back to India, finally reached his home at Uliya near Ullal in the city on Tuesday August 24.

Dency’s brother Melwyn was airlifted and had reached home on August 17. But Dency was stuck at Kabul airport. This caused anxiety to the family members. Now they are greatly relieved as Dency has reached safely back home.

Dency was working as an air-conditioning technician at an American company at the military base in Afghanistan. Dency said that he and his companions were under panic. They reached home because of the cooperation of their company and Indian embassy staff.

Dency was airlifted to Qatar from Kabul and had to spend three days in Qatar till he got a flight to India. Dency said that he is an eye witness to the firing carried out by the American military at Kabul airport on August 15 to prevent Afghan nationals from entering the airport. Three people had died in the indiscriminate firing by the American troops.

Dency and his companions had only one meal a day for three days and waited anxiously in the Kabul Airport to get back to homeland.

Dency - Thank God that you are back with your family. Mercy of our Lord is invaluable. Please do not make any statements as regards the happenings at the Kabul Airport. There are other people there, stuck. Their lives will be at risk. Our Media should restrain from Interviewing people and publishing the stories. It risks others' lives.

Migration out of Afghanistan has been a major industry. Similar to Punjabis and Patels. It did not start with Taliban. Over the last few years, at least 500,000 have moved out, desperately trying to get into Europe. At least 300,000 are currently stuck in Turkey. The numbers in North Africa of these Afghans may be 50,000. At least 100,000 have entered Europe as refugees already. So all those who are trying to enter the airport are not there due to the fear of the Taliban. They are using the excuse of the Taliban, because Europeans have got a terrible image of the Taliban.
