Mangaluru, Aug 24: Dency Monteiro, who was stuck in Afghanistan as he did not get the flight to fly back to India, finally reached his home at Uliya near Ullal in the city on Tuesday August 24.
Dency’s brother Melwyn was airlifted and had reached home on August 17. But Dency was stuck at Kabul airport. This caused anxiety to the family members. Now they are greatly relieved as Dency has reached safely back home.
Dency was working as an air-conditioning technician at an American company at the military base in Afghanistan. Dency said that he and his companions were under panic. They reached home because of the cooperation of their company and Indian embassy staff.
Dency was airlifted to Qatar from Kabul and had to spend three days in Qatar till he got a flight to India. Dency said that he is an eye witness to the firing carried out by the American military at Kabul airport on August 15 to prevent Afghan nationals from entering the airport. Three people had died in the indiscriminate firing by the American troops.
Dency and his companions had only one meal a day for three days and waited anxiously in the Kabul Airport to get back to homeland.
