Dubai, Oct 3: The Alumnae/Alumni of India’s two prestigious institutions - the St. Aloysius & St. Agnes College & Schools of Mangalore once again will come together for the REUNION 2011, which will be held during the  first week of  February 2011.

This was announced during a brainstorming meeting held between  Committee Members of both colleges in Abu Dhabi recently.

The much awaited high profile and fun event has generated lot of interest since its inception. The Alumni/Alumnae of these two great institutions eagerly await for this day long event which is being held normally once in two years, is attracting thousands of old students and their families from all over UAE and other Middle Eastern countries.

Ashraf and Joyce

The organizers speaking to Daijiworld in Abu Dhabi informed that the venue and date of the event will be announced shortly as and when appropriate arrangements are made.

The meeting which was held in Abu Dhabi, appointed  Ajman based Entrepreneur B. M. Ashraf as the Chairperson for the Aloysians and Dubai based social worker and Konkani activist Joyce Menezes  as Chairperson for the Agnesians for the forthcoming 2011 Event.

Various issues were discussed and a general format for the event  planned.

The members pledged their support for the newly appointed Chairpersons and promised to work hard to make this event a success.

Jerome Pereira (Jemma Padil) the person who was responsible to  stage the first ever Aloysian Alumni gathering in the UAE  and outside India in 1997, explained the objective of the gathering and requested all to work hard to make this event a success.

It must be noted that these institutions have impacted the lives of thousands of students, regardless of their religion, culture, and ethnic background in their cultural, educational and intellectual values.

St. Aloysius College and School, established by the Jesuit Priests over 127 years ago, have produced some of the best stalwarts that have risen to different career successes in different parts of the world!

St. Agnes College – the all women college, run by the Apostolic Carmel nuns, which has nurtured thousands of young women, who have established themselves successfully in every sphere of life.

The old students of these premier institutions are holding high profile and prominent positions all over the U.A.E. and have proved and established their presence wherever they have gone.

The intention of the organizers is to unite together, all ex Agnesians and Aloysians with their families for a day of fun and interaction and to recall old memories of their college / school days.

It will be an excellent opportunity for the alumnae/alumni’s to meet, greet and share their past and present among the long lost friends, whom they have not met from ages.

This re-union will be exclusively for the old students and their families.

To make this event a success the organizers have requested all the old students spread all over UAE to come up with new ideas and request volunteers who can render their talent, that is, music, singing,  or any other flair they  excel in.   The organizers have requested the former students who are spread across the Emirates to come up with sponsorships etc. to make this event a success.

The organizers have also requested the former students based in UAE to register their names detailing the year of study, name of the College, Postal Address, email ids and telephone nos etc which may be forwarded along with any new ideas to : agaloy@gmail.com and the organizers will be  in touch with you.

What a great idea to have the re-union of old students of these two great institutions of name and fame.

I say kudos to Ashraf and Joyce for their efforts to bring people together. I have very strong links with both St. Aloysius and St. Agnes. During my early years I was a student of St. Agnes in the K.G. class in early twenties. Thereafter I had my education in St. Aloysius starting from first form right upto my College . My three sisters studied at St. Agnes. One of my sisters - Mother Carmela belonged to the first batch of B.A. students. My other sister - Sister Hedwige was the Principal of St. Agnes College.

As an Aloysian I was the founder Vice President of an Aloysian Foundation in U.S.A., Father Ozzie Mascarenhas and Tony D'Silva being the Chairperson and Secretary respectively. It is my pleasure to be in close touch with Aloysians in North America. Ashraf and Joyce - I would appreciate your providing more details about the forthcoming re-union.

I am happy to say that I am close to The Jesuit Fathers of sacred memory and also to The Apostolic
Carmel and the Provincials of both the orders Father Frankie and Sister Agatha Mary are my good friends.

I join scores of people in wishing the EVENT every success - wherever the venue may be.

Congratulations Ashraf on you taking over as the chairman of the Aloysian Alumni in UAE. I am sure this will be a great success as I know how capable you are in moving the mountain if required. The living Machine during your college days with the aloysian president being made the leader of the all karnataka student union was all your brain child. We are all eagerly waiting for an unusaul action packed event, where by get an opportunity to kindle the aloysian sprits.
