Mangaluru: Milagres College holds grand decennial celebrations

Mangaluru, Sep 1: Decennial celebrations of Milagres College were held on Wednesday September 1.

Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore diocese and president of the Catholic Board of Education, offered thanksgiving Mass at Milagres Church. Later, he presided over the function at the college premises. He inaugurated the new facilities, LMS, futuristic courses and released the decennial magazine. He also felicitated the rank holders of the BSc Hospitality Science of Mangalore University examinations of 2020.

Addressing the gathering, the bishop said, “Education acquired should draw out something in order to face challenges to bring out the unique and precious potentials within every student. Knowledge, skill and values are the aspects of education. Knowledge given with love gives wisdom. It is with wisdom values develop in life and they give proper direction to our lives. As students is it necessary to have all the three aspects in life.”

The chief guest of the occasion, Fr Antony Shera, secretary, Catholic Board of Education, distributed the prizes and awarded the scholarships to the meritorious students. In his message he congratulated the college on increasing strength and said every student should work hard towards achievement of their goal.

Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions welcomed the gathering and Fr Michael Santhumayor, principal presented the decennial report and proposed the vote of thanks.

Milagres parish pastoral council vice president Nigel Pereira, secretary Hilda Rodrigues, Roger Samuel, student representatives were present on the dais.

The students presented a colorful cultural programme which comprised decennial tableau on the history of Milagres College. Student Sama Siraj compered the programme.
