Mumbai, Oct 8: Dr Narayan T Anchan, well-known Ayurvedic practitioner and proprietor of Anchan Ayurvedic in Padubidri, Udupi district of Karnataka, bagged the ‘Samaj Ratna Award’ by Bangalore-based Ranga Samaj ®cultural organization for the year 2009–10.
Ranga Samaj has given him the award for his extraordinary contributions in the fields of social service and medicine.
The award will be conferred on Dr Anchan during the Seventh All India Kannada Sahitya and Samskrutik Sammelan to be held at Dr Vishveshvarayya Auditorium of Karnataka Sangh, Matunga (West), at 3.30 pm on Sunday October 10. Ranga Samaj secretary S K Tilakraj said that the Sammelan will be held under the joint auspices of Bangalore-based Ranga Samaj, Karnataka Sangh, and Jnana Bhandara Education and Cultural Academy.
Kannada Rajyotsav Awardee Dr H V Kotturesh Rastapuramata will be the chairman of the Sammelan.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank internal auditor and journalist Manohar Tonse will be the chief guest on the occasion, stated the press release issued by Karnataka Sangh honorary chief secretary Bharat Kumar Polipu.
Dr Anchan has contributed to the health of coastal residents in undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK) and has been visiting the metro to conduct health camps thereby helping the natives of undivided DK who are settled in the metro to lead healthy lives.
