Bantwal: 26-year-old found murdered - Accused confesses, arrested

Bantwal, Sep 13: A young man was murdered by stabbing him and then smashing his head with a boulder. The body was then transported in a car and thrown into a drain flowing near Kodyamale forest area. The incident happened at Karla in Tenkakajekar village in the taluk on the night of September 12.

The victim of the incident was Rafiq (20) from Karla. The accused happens to be Siddique (30), son of Ibrahim from Kelagina Karla in Tenka Kajekar village. It is said that Rafiq and the accused used to fight on petty issues now and then. Siddique, who had nurtured enmity against Rafiq, on the pretext of smoking, escorted Rafiq away. When having casual conversation with him, he suddenly dragged out a knife which he had hidden, and stabbed Rafiq in the neck, chest and abdomen. Once Rafiq fell unconscious, he carried the body in a car owned by friend, Fayaz, and dumped it in a drain flowing by the side of the forest at Kodyamale before escaping, it is said.

The police visited the spot after the locals informed them about the incident. They registered the case. Siddique came to Punjalkatte police station on Monday morning to surrender, and confessed to the crime committed by him. The police took him into custody. Beltangady police circle inspector Shivakumar, has taken charge of the investigation.
